The small things…

It can be easy going through our days to get in a rut and not be thankful for the small things in our lives.  One of the things  I am thankful for today is the new David Crowder Band CD that is out!  It is their last one which is sad because they are probably my favorite worship band however I know God will use them all in great ways in new areas.  It can be easy to let all of the tasks of the day wear on you from emails that need returned, bills that need paid, phone calls that you have to make, event planning, having a conversation that you are not looking forward to, and the list could go on and on.  In the midst of your day today I want to challenge you to think of 5 things you are thankful for.  In November as Thanksgiving was approaching I seemed to hear numerous things each day of what people were thankful for but now that Thanksgiving and Christmas have passed I have not heard much anymore.

I caught myself this morning wanting to fall into the trap of complaining instead of being thankful.  As I made my way out to my car this morning so I could drive to work I had to scrape my windshield and my automatic response was “Ugh…I hate having to scrape my windshield”.  However I need to be thankful that I have a car to even get me to work.  It doesn’t matter that is from 1997, it doesn’t matter that the paint is fading all over it, it runs and gets me to the places I need to go.

So here is my list of 5 things I am thankful for today…

1. A supportive and loving wife

2. A car that runs

3. The new David Crowder Band CD

4. The delicious Chic-Fil-A sandwich I ate earlier today

5. The ability to go back to seminary and get a graduate degree

How about you what things are you thankful for today?
