Technology to the Rescue!

No matter what kind of ministry you serve in we all have our technology favorites.  Some of us are PC people some are Mac people, some are Kindle fans some are Nook Fans, Some like Facebook and some like Twitter.  Think about it 10 years ago there was no such thing as an Ipad, Smart phones, Facebook, Twitter, Googlemaps, Ipods, and many other awesome devices.  Many people were still using Floppy Disks for their computers, had dial-up internet, and had never made a purchase on Ebay or Craigslist.  Isn’t it so weird that teens nowadays never had to hear that incredibly annoying sound when you logged onto the internet?

Two devices that I am extremely thankful for today is my Kindle and a GPS.  I love reading books so it is great not having to check around at different book stores to see if they have the book I am looking for and if not, having to wait a couple of weeks for it to be in.  Now I can with just one click order a book and have it on my Kindle within seconds.  I can take my Kindle places instead of lugging a bag filled with books around.  Also since I take youth on lots of trips throughout the year I am extra grateful to have a GPS.  It is great not having to continually look down at a map or look at print out directions to figure out where my next turn is when you are being bombarded with the question “Are we there yet?”  “When are we stopping next? I need to use the bathroom.” (even though you just stopped 30 minutes ago), and the smells….nevermind lets skip the smells.

So if you had to pick your top 2 favorite technologies right now what would they be? Why?

  1. Probably the coffee machine, and the internal combustion engine. They both seem to be helpful to me on a daily basis.

  2. I have always enjoyed the smell of coffee but have never really acquired the taste for it.

  3. I’m pretty low-tech. My laptop and my Blackberry are the main ones that I use. I’m afraid that i would break anything else.
