A quote that I recently read from Erwin McManus said, “When you look back on your life, how will the world be different because you were here?” This was not the first time I heard a quote like this nor the first time I thought about this question. This is a big challenge because it is so easy to give into the concept that if we have friends, be a nice person, make a decent living then that is a good life. To me that is existing not living. Now don’t get me wrong I am thanful for every friend I have, you don’t have to look far to see the benefits of people who show kindness, and I appreciate the paycheck I receive especially during this rough time in our society. However, when I pass from this earth I want to be able to say that my life was more than just ordinary. My desire is not to be famous but to have a lasting impact on the world even years after I am gone. At times this concept of the world being different because I was here seems so big…out of my grasp which is good! Because if this is my desire and your desire then things are out of my control and yours. We must then begin to rely on God and have faith that he will show in a powerful way. I recently spoke at church and asked the questions what if we were willing to be bold? What if we were willing to dream big? What is we were willing to live courageously? These are a big challenges to me as it is easy….to do things that are easy. Although if we are only willing to do the easy how will we ever have an impact on our world? Many times we have so many opportunities right at our finger tips but are we taking them? It is easy for us to take the stance well I didn’t get a personal invitation to help out. How do you think this will stand up when we have to give an account of what we did for the people in need and we said well no one gave me a personal invitation to help? I don’t think this will really hold up very well. We have to be willing to see the need and meet the need. So what will your impact be?
